Welcome

Welcome to the rest of your life!  You may be stuck in life and needing a safe, confidential place to share your emotional pain, guilt, doubt, anxiety, or sadness.  Your own best effort hasn't helped enough.  I offer support, understanding, and guidance to help you develop inner peace and strength.  With that, you will be more capable of coping with life's challenges.  The rest of your life is waiting for you.

Areas of Service

I provide individual, couples, family, and group therapy for adults, especially adults over the age of 50.   I specialize in sadness.  I help people with depression, bipolar disorder, seasonal affective disorder, and grief.

Judy's Philosophy

I holistically view the cognitive, emotional, behavioral, biological, environmental, social, and spiritual components as integrated parts of a person, couple, or family.  Personal well being, relationships with others, and general health may improve by resolving the unique combination of problems among those elements.  I consider people their own best experts on themselves and work collaboratively with them.  I find people do their best but can be stuck in patterns that no longer work for them.  Therapy can help develop more effective skills and build inner peace and strength.

I hold a doctoral degree from George Fox University, where I was trained in integrating spirituality with therapy as directed by the client. I am licensed by the state of Oregon as a psychologist.

I previously practiced in community mental health and adult retirement clinics treating chronically mentally ill children, adolescents, and adults. I have treated difficult issues including depression, bipolar, seasonal affective disorder, anxiety, end of life issues, life changes, couples relationships, abuse, interpersonal violence, grief and loss, trauma, attention deficit/hyperactivity, insomnia, parenting problems, and adoption.

Before entering the behavioral health field, I was self employed in property management and also served for 14 years on three school boards in the Hillsboro, Oregon area. I also served on the board of the Oregon School Boards Association.

I am an active member of the Rotary Club of Tigard and an elder of Calvin Presbyterian Church.  I am a member of the American Psychological Association, the Oregon Psychological Association, the Western Psychological Association, and the Christian Association of Psychological Studies.
